CBSE Supplementary Examinations 2025: Important Information for Private Candidates
The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has released a comprehensive notification detailing the eligibility criteria, application process, and examination schedule for the Supplementary Examinations 2025 for private candidates. This is crucial information for students aiming to improve their performance or clear compartments.
Eligibility Criteria
Class XII
Private candidates are eligible to apply for the Supplementary Examinations under the following conditions:
Single Compartment: Students who appeared in full subjects (5) and were placed in a compartment in one subject can apply for that subject.
Two Compartments: Students with six subjects who were placed in compartments in two subjects can apply for any one of those subjects.
Improvement of Performance: Students who passed but failed in one subject can apply for improvement in that subject, provided the examination for that subject is being conducted.
Third and Final Chance: Students who were placed in the compartment category in 2024 and have already availed two chances (Compartment Examination 2024 and Board Examinations 2025) are eligible for a third and final attempt in the Supplementary Examinations 2025.
Class X
Private candidates are eligible under the following conditions:
Single or Double Compartment: Students who appeared in full subjects (5) and were placed in compartments in one or two subjects can apply for those subjects.
Improvement of Performance: Students with 6/7 subjects who passed due to subject replacement can apply for improvement in the replaced subjects, provided the examinations for those subjects are being conducted and the subject combination is valid as per the date sheet.
Third and Final Chance: Students who were placed in the compartment category in 2024 and have already availed two chances are eligible for a third and final attempt in the Supplementary Examinations 2025.
Examination Schedule
Class XII: Examinations will be held on 15th July 2025 (Tuesday) for one day only.
Application Process and Fee Details
Application Window:
With Late Fee: 18th June 2025 (Wednesday) to 19th June 2025 (Thursday)
Examination Fee:
Private candidates in India: ₹300 per subject
Private candidates in Nepal: ₹1,000 per subject
Private candidates outside India: ₹2,000 per subject
Late Fee: An additional ₹2,000 per subject will be charged during the late fee window.
Payment Mode: Fees must be paid through digital payment modes such as Debit Card, Credit Card, or Net Banking. Ensure that the payment is credited to the Board's account on or before the last date of submission.
Exemption: Visually impaired students of Class X and XII are exempted from the examination fee.
Important Notes
Schools must ensure that the fee is paid in such a manner that it is updated in the Board's account on or before the last date.
If the fee is not paid or not updated in the Board's account, the candidature will not be accepted, and the student will not be allowed to appear in the Supplementary Examinations.
Before making the payment, schools can take a printout of the List of Candidates (LOC) as a checklist. Once the fee is paid, the final LOC will be printed, and no corrections can be made thereafter.
